The vision for the North Dairy project is a response to Saanich’s new Shelbourne Valley Action Plan which envisions a four storey multifamily building for the site. The approximately 0.7 acre site enjoys frontages on North Dairy Road, Wordsworth Street and Keats Street. The project benefits from its proximity to Hillside Mall, Cedar Hill Rec Centre, and numerous schools and institutions, as well as direct bus access to downtown and the University of Victoria.
The building design utilizes high quality materials, using a balance of brick cladding, white stucco, real cedar soffits and coloured accent panels to effectively break up massing of the building. The building also uses ground floor individual unit entrances, patios and layered landscaping along all three road frontages to create a visually interesting and vibrant pedestrian realm.
Abstract has engaged with local firms Low Hammond Rowe Architects and LADR Landscape Architects. To develop a plan that is both responsive the neighbourhood and the goals of Saanich and the needs of the region.
We have re-submitted plans to the District of Saanich, we are excited about the changes and improvements to the project. Please click the links below for details on the changes and updated drawings:
