Abstract Developments is searching for a talented Construction Project Manager to join our growing, award-winning company.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a highly experienced, motivated Project Manager to help deliver speculative multi-family and custom homes to an ever-increasing base of customers, and in turn deliver direct, measurable revenues to the company.

The Project Manager is a personable and insightful leader with at least five years of project management and estimating experience, preferably focused on multi-family residential projects. The right candidate will lead all aspects of customer relations, construction planning and project management while ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and within quality and regulatory parameters. Typically, the Project Manager will manage up to three projects concurrently, overseeing site supervisors to ensure the timely and efficient completion of the work.

Site Supervisor

Abstract Developments is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to join our growing team.

Candidates for the Site Supervisor must bring exceptional organizational and communications skills, and are passionate about high quality construction. This position is responsible for site human resource needs; manages sub-contractors; meets operational standards and construction budgets; accomplishes construction project results; prevents fines and interruptions; and maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environments.

The Site Supervisor is a dedicated, intuitive, and personable construction site leader who inspires others to excel at building quality homes and developments. Problem-solving and achieving high quality construction results must be second-nature to the right candidate.

We are looking for candidates with at least ten years’ experience formally supervising construction sites, and successfully delivering construction projects (e.g. multi-family, mixed use, etc.) as well as construction experience on work sites. Knowledge of construction management tools and techniques, such as scope definition, changes, project scheduling, critical path, estimating, budgeting, reporting, and cost control is an asset. Formal certification such as Red Seal Carpenter, AScT, EIT, P.Eng, PMP and/or GSC would also be an asset.

Site Safety Officer (OFA 2)

Abstract Developments is searching for a talented Site Safety Officer (OFA 2) to join our growing, award-winning company.

Reporting to the site superintendent, the Site Safety Officer is an integral part of the on site construction team. Site Safety Officers provide emergency response, as well as general site safety/first aid. Along with the Superintendent, the Safety Officer will assist with pre-planning of work to comply with any and all WorkSafeBC regulations and acts, create traffic control plans as required, conduct and document safety inspections of site, orientations, and create and review safe work procedures. The Site Safety Officer will also be tasked with general construction duties as conditions dictate and as directed by the Site Superintendent.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Be prepared and available to respond to first aid emergencies
  • Provide care and treatment of minor injuries that do not need serious medical treatment
  • Record signs and symptoms of injuries and exposures to contaminants
  • Refer injured workers to medical treatment if injuries are serious or beyond the scope of an attendant's training
  • Submit timely and detailed reporting on activities, incidents, and near misses
  • Keep inventory of supplies in First Aid room
  • Educate staff on safe work practices
  • Ensure sites are following WorkSafe BC standards
  • Assist in other activities under Supervisor’s instructions, e.g. assisting in general site work duties

Company Policies & Procedures:

  • Be compliant with all company policies & procedures, and Employee Handbook standards 
  • Wear approved Abstract shirts and safety apparel
  • All Abstract sites are smoke, drug and alcohol free

Skills/Abilities:

  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in Word and Outlook

Experience: 

  • Occupational First Aid (OFA) Level 2 or higher
  • Recent, related experience on residential and/or commercial construction sites

Additional Training/Certification:

Work Schedule:
