To our valued community,

It has been a few weeks since we last updated you on the effects that Covid-19 has had on our operations and what we are doing in response. These are unprecedented times in our history, and everyone has been impacted significantly by this pandemic. While these times are forcing us physically apart to ensure the health and safety of all, in many ways these events are bringing our community together as we are seeing unprecedented levels of community outreach and support, creating newfound optimism and hope.

Today, I want to update you on how we are supporting the Greater Victoria community, one that we’ve been proud to help build for more than 20 years.

Committed to Delivering Homes

In a time when growth and housing needs are at their highest across Greater Victoria, we believe we have an important responsibility to continue to deliver new homes into the region, across all housing types.

Deemed a non-health essential service by the Province of BC, residential and commercial construction activities continue at most of our sites. Our operations have adapted significantly to include mandatory social distancing on-site, increased sanitation facilities and cleaning routines, and strict stay-at-home requirements for those showing symptoms or who may have been exposed to COVID-19; among other procedural requirements.

We are working hard to exceed the guidelines of WorkSafe BC, BCCDC, and other industry guidelines in order to ensure construction operations can carry on, and new housing can continue to be delivered to the region during this unprecedented time.

How Customers Can Count on Abstract

Integrity is a cornerstone of our values and now more than ever, it means delivering on our promises. Many homebuyers are counting on the completion of our developments as it directly relates to their need for a home. We are committed to continuing to delivering new homes during this time, while ensuring we are maintaining appropriate safety standards for our customers, employees, the community and other stakeholders.

Our sales team is  communicating regularly with our homebuyers to provide construction updates with projected timelines, and ensuring we are doing what we can to support their transition to a new home.

Our Presentation Centres are open by appointment only, and our sales experience has adapted to allow for customers to experience Abstract homes in new ways, and from the comfort of their own home, including virtual and video tours. Our sales team is available by telephone, video call or Facetime to assist.

An Unwavering Commitment to Employee Safety

The safety and well-being of our employees continues to be our top priority. While we are committed to delivering to our customers and our community, we will not do so at the expense of our team’s safety.

All of our development, sales, and administrative staff have been working remotely for several weeks, as they continue to support the business while physically distancing. Our construction sites continue to operate at the fullest extent possible to deliver much needed housing in the community. But we are working hard to exceed the guidelines of WorkSafe BC and other government or industry bodies.

We have also ensured support is available to all staff through our Employee Assistance Program.

As we continue to adapt to this changing pandemic we will continue to update you. I wish to thank everyone in our community for their continued efforts in physical distancing and for their efforts supporting others in need. It has been said before, but we are truly all in this together. Together we will continue to help this community adapt, build, and grow for a brighter future.

Sincerely,

Mike Miller
